In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine group.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Features

Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana together with numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This signifies not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
